Welcome to the Pay It Forward Tickets Program Page!
In 2015, my life took a drastic turn when I was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumor. Enduring two craniotomies, I fought a courageous battle to have the tumor successfully removed. The road to recovery was long and challenging, requiring me to relearn how to walk without assistance and cope with cognitive impairments affecting my memory and calculations.
As a divorced mother of two, with bills to pay and a years worth of savings that had been drained during months of intensive rehabilitation, the approaching Christmas season posed a new set of challenges. I knew that Christmas would be different for my children, who were eagerly looking forward to the holiday despite our circumstances.
I vividly remember walking through the aisles of Walmart, carefully selecting a few toys for each of my kids. No one around me could see the physical and emotional scars I carried from the surgeries — the 7-inch scar behind my ear, the deafness in that one ear due to the surgery, the fatigue, and vertigo I battled daily. Despite my struggles, I wanted to bring a glimmer of joy to my children's lives during this difficult time.
At the checkout counter, a stranger approached me with a heartwarming offer — to purchase the gifts I had selected for my children. Overwhelmed with gratitude and disbelief, I initially thought it was a cruel prank. Fighting back tears, I hesitantly accepted her generous offer. She encouraged me to choose more toys, clothing, or whatever my heart desired for my little ones.
Her kindness and compassion touched my soul. She paid for the gifts and in that moment, I realized that her act of generosity was a divine intervention. As we connected further, she learned about my journey and the challenges I had faced, understanding the profound impact of her selfless gesture.
Inspired by the outpouring of kindness and support that I received from many during my battle with the brain tumor, I decided to pay it forward. On the anniversary of the tumor's removal, I founded "Gifts of Hope," an organization dedicated to spreading hope and kindness to others in need. My mission is to extend the same sense of hope and joy that was gifted to me during the darkest days of my life, creating a ripple effect of positivity and compassion in the world. Through the journey, I also created the The Pay It Forward Program. The video above is similar to my experience.
